The reasons for IT service management professionals running after the ITIL Certification

The ITIL is a standard framework of knowledge developed with a view of aligning IT services with the needs of the business. First introduced by the OGC, the ITIL framework has witnessed a lot of amendments since its launch in order to remain up-to-date with the changing times and needs of the business. The most recent version is the ITIL V3, launched in 2007 which has a clearer, simplified and logical approach for IT service management. ITIL V3 is aligned with ISO20000 standard for service management. An efficient and competent IT service management contributes largely in the overall success of the IT department and the ITIL framework ensures it if implemented and tailored properly. In course of time, ITIL has curved a place of its own in IT service management and no other framework comes close in its efficiency in delivering high quality IT services. When organizations like NASA, Disney adopt ITIL framework for their IT service management, the importance and credibility of the framework can well made up.
The success of ITIL has also established the need of professionals who have required expertise on ITIL. The ITIL Certification was introduced to meet this demand and is currently governed by the renowned certification body, the APM Group. The ITIL V3 has replaced the previous ITIL qualifications and ITIL Course and has come up with all new four main ITIL V3 qualifications, namely, ITIL Foundation, Intermediate, Expert and Master. Each qualification is associated with an exam which has to be passed in order to acquire the qualification. Besides the ITIL Certification, passing of each exam is also awarded a badge to signify the level of merit the ITIL V3 certified professional possess. For example ITIL Foundation certified professionals are awarded a pastel green colored badge to indicate their level of merit while Master ITIL V3 certified individuals are given a purple colored badge with the letter M inscribed in the middle. Each ITIL V3 qualification has its distinct role in an IT service management work environment and all the types of ITIL Certification are regarded in high esteem.
The APM Group has accredited various examination bodies worldwide like EXIN, BCS/ISEB to conduct the ITIL V3 exams. These examination bodies not only conduct the exams but also authorize ITIL Training organizations to provide the official ITIL Training Course. ITIL Training Course is provided for all the types of ITIL V3 qualification and the ITIL Training providers ensure that the candidates are fully ready with ITIL Course and are competent enough to sit for the ITIL V3 exams. It is hugely beneficial for aspiring candidates to enroll for an ITIL Training Course but it is not obligatory to do so, candidates also have the option of self-studying and taking the ITIL V3 exams. It fully depends on the requirement and convenience of the candidates.
Therefore earning the ITIL Certification is not a herculean task and has been made very easy and accessible with the advent of ITIL Training providers. Candidates after earning the revered ITIL Certification need not look back and can expect a smooth and secured IT career.
