What is a PMP certification?


PMP means Project Management Professional. PMP certification is the most important certification that is recognized by PMI (Project Management Institute) for project managers. PMP certification is growing day by day because it demonstrates the experience, education and competency to lead and direct projects. PMP certification is taken by thousands of professionals from across the world. PMP trainings can  be taken both in online and in regular classroom trainings. According to PMI, candidates taking the PMP certification will have a growth in their pay scale. Candidates are advised to take PMP certification only in a recognized institute for better insight.
Who should apply for PMP certification?
If you are an experienced project manager looking to gain skills and knowledge out of employees then PMP certification is the right choice for you. PMP course not only gains skills and knowledge but also your pay scale and respect among your staffs. Candidates willing to take PMP trainings should meet the eligibility criteria. To apply for PMP certification you should have a secondary degree with at least five years  of project management experience with 7,500 hours and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education. Or a four year degree and at least three years of project management experience with 4,500 hours of leading and directing projects is required.
Candidates are advised to participate in PMP course sharing sites and discussion forums to share and gain more knowledge. Refer PMP course books like PMBOK and other books, stop referring too many books to avoid last minute confusion.
How to apply for PMP certification?
You can apply for the PMP certification on the official website of PMI.  You should download the printable application form from  the site. You can refer the internet for PMP preparation tips and information.  Candidates should submit duly filled documents either in online or to the respective PMP training institutes.
Like other certification course PMP certification also consists of two levels. Foundation PMP certification and practitioner level. Foundation level is to gain basic knowledge and skills of project management. Exams are conducted at the end of the trainings. The paper is based on multiple choice questions with 200 questions. Candidates should score 50 % to pass in the examination. It’s a closed book examination and candidates who failed can retake the exams again, as there are no limits.
Practitioner level is for candidates who already took the foundation course. This level is judge your project management skills and knowledge gained. The exam is based on multiple choice questions with ten marks questions, candidates should score above 70 % to pass the examination. It’s an open book exam and only PMP course guides are allowed.  Maintaining your PMP certification is also very important, one should earn 60 PDU’s per three cycle year. To be updated with new technologies and techniques. Even today many leading organizations are in wanted of PMP certification holders, because they have the ability to deal on time real projects effectively.
